- MY STORY -​

Here I am behind the scenes, or should I say behind my pillows . As you can see I Love Black, White, neutrals and earth tones.

Ever since I was old enough to handle a needle and a sewing machine I was taught by my late Indonesian grandmother to sew my own doll clothes, crochet and knit. I would spend hours of my time creating and loved it.

Later in life, my creativity was further curated when I chose to settle and live in a "designers heaven", Bali. I spent the next 25 years of my life as a textile and fashion designer . This of course led me to a love for decorating with infinite possibilities to create. My mother had a reclaimed antique store and I started a business decorating luxury Villas for expats, doing custom soft furnishings using traditional Ikat, Songkat fabrics and custom designed reclaimed teak furniture for our clients.

As a single mother of two, now living in the United states, something urged me to shift my career. I felt I needed to do something I love doing. After much soul searching I asked myself what is it you've always done and love doing,....... yup creating, designing, drawing, styling. My daughters said "Mum you're a pillow freak" why don't you start your own pillow company, and there was the answer right in front of me! BANTALÉ was found.

What's in our name

BANTAL means Pillow in Indonesian and I added the É for the french sound and some extra fun after all I'm half French and half Indonesian.

My designs are mostly ethnic inspired, I love working with traditional Ikat helping the locals share their traditional arts and fabrics. Being creative is being true to my essence and what makes me happy. I love to share and I hope you will shop small and find inspiration here for your home.

Our Product

Bantalé provides a unique take in home decor offering authentic imported and local textiles that are ethically sourced and created by artisans around the world, helping the community from which they originate. Many of our products are also sourced using local artists and custom printed in the USA. All of our items are handmade and created in our studio in California.
